SOPHIE TAYLOR - Costumes
 |
Sophie seems to have gained a reputation for playing
characters who wear skimpy outfits. In "Dick Whittington" as Wotta Cutie there
was notta lot left to the imagination. Then, in "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
there was something floaty. It's probably best not to mention the pink creation
from "Dracula the panto" and what wasn't worn in "Babysitting Calvin."
Sophie joined the society in "Down with Demon Drink" with chronic stage
fright having only done set design and backstage work previously with another
society. This was where she met husband John, who brought her down to CATS. Now
we can't get rid of her! Sophie has also done costume design for "A Midsummer
Night's Dream" and for the girls in "Daisy Pulls it Off." Sophie was also part
of the team which won a CATS Oscar for Worst Prop / Special Effect, for the
bollards in "Dick Whittington". They were made out of drainpipe, flowerpot,
dowel and polystyrene. However, she maintains that she was only responsible for
sawing the 10ft length of drainpipe in half in the middle of Great Mills car
park.
Her favourite role was Titania, from "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
because all she seemed to do was go to sleep, although she did have to pretend
to be in love with Jon Keen's ass! Her worst role was Wotta Cutie, which
probably had something to do with that outfit!
Sophie recently played
the part of Dorothy in "Murdered to Death" and likes the fact that she got to
die rather dramatically on stage. The only problem is that it didn't happen
until page 81. |
