UNA FAITHFULL - "Carla Pepperbloom"
 |
Una is Chairman of the Forest Jubilee Theatre. Her early
credits include a Hong Kong production of Annie Get Your Gun, An Inspector
Calls (with the Twickenham Players) and Robin Hood in Babes in the Wood (with
the Sunbury Players). She then had leading roles in Alan Ayckbourn's Season's
Greetings, And A Nightingale Sang
and The Acrrington Pals (with The
Runnymede Players). One of her most successful roles was playing the female
demon lion in the Japanese production Akumo No Shishi Demon Lion which one
first prize in the Maidenhead Festival. Una was a member of Cranbourne Amateur
Dramatic Society (CADS) from 1995 until recently and has taken part in a number
of productions: Dandini in Cinderella, Vanessa in Kindly Keep it Covered, Julia
in A Murder is Announced and more recently as a butler with 'many parts' in The
Farndale Avenue Housing Association's Townswomen's Guild Murder Mystery Play.
She is perhaps best known for her performance as Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion
which proved one of Una's biggest and most successful challenges. Una thrives
on challenges and each part she plays becomes more and more difficult.
She says she gives 100% in whatever she does and is totally committed
to amateur theatre. Una recently made her debut as a Director with CADS in
Murder is Announced. She found this much more challenging than acting but still
very rewarding and is now very keen to direct more varied productions. Una says
playing Carla Pepperbloom will certainly stretch her acting ability, not to
mention her make-up(!) but she is looking forward to it.
Last but not
least, Comic Potential all began from a discussion with Una and the Mayor of
Bracknell Forest and as usual Una took up the challenge. So here we are today
with 6 Bracknell Forest amateur drama groups all working together in one major
production on a professional stage to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. She
thanks all the groups for working with her to make this dream come true and to
ensure this event is one of the most successful events for local amateur
theatre in the area. |
